Bishop Mykola visited Geelong
April 2, 2024
On Bright Monday, April 1, Bishop Mykola Bychok, Eparch of Melbourne, headed the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy in Geelong, Victoria.
Responding to the invitation of Fr. Iurii Tychenok, administrator of the Parish of the Protection of the Mother of God, Bishop Mykola arrived in Geelong to share the joy of Christ’s Resurrection with the local faithful.
The Hierarchical Divine Liturgy was concelebrated by Fr. Iurii Tychenok, administrator of the parish in Geelong, and Deacon Vasyl Motrichenko.
Addressing the faithful during the homily, Bishop Mykola talked about the significance of the Resurrection of Christ for Christians and emphasised that we remember this holiday in prayer every Sunday, so it is important to understand that every Sunday is “the Lord’s Day.” “As Christians of the third millennium, we need to remember the importance and the value of Sunday in our spiritual life. We have a duty to restore the lost understanding that Sunday is the day when we remember Christ’s glorious Resurrection,” the bishop emphasised.
Bishop Mykola congratulated Geelong parishioners on the Resurrection of Christ and urged them not to forget to pray for Ukraine: “Let us unite in celebrating the Resurrection as the victory of Christ over death, having hope, and asking the Lord for a just peace. Let’s pray and not lose heart!”
After the joint prayer, all those willing had a good opportunity to talk with the bishop over a common treat. So, this visit was an important time of unity for the entire parish community.
