“Without the Heavenly Mother, the world does not have spiritual life,” Bishop Mykola Bychok in Adelaide

July 2, 2023

On Sunday, July 2nd, a pastoral visit by Bishop Mykola Bychok, the Eparch of Melbourne, took place at the Church of Our Of Protection in Wayville, Adelaide, South Australia.

“Without the Heavenly Mother, the world does not have spiritual life,” Bishop Mykola Bychok in Adelaide

Bishop Mykola Bychok celebrated the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy in concelebration with Father Taras Gorpynyak, the parish priest, and Deacon Volodymyr Demchynsky. A large number of faithful gathered to experience the grace of this special occasion.

In his homily to the faithful, Bishop Mykola emphasized the relevance of the feast of the Mother of God of Perpetual Help. He underscored that the Most Holy Mother of God is a reliable support for every Christian, reminding them that she daily cares for her children and points the way to salvation — Jesus Christ. The hierarch stated, ‘The feast of the Mother of God of Perpetual Help is as relevant today as ever. We rely on the powerful hand of the Most Holy Mother of God. Just as the world lacks a bright future without a biological mother, it also lacks spiritual life without the Heavenly Mother. The Most Holy Mother of God is a reliable support for every Christian: she cares for us every day and every second, she, as a Good Mother, brings comfort and is present with her children, she points us to Jesus as the only way to salvation.’

After the Divine Liturgy, Bishop Mykola visited the parish hall, where a celebration took place. The faithful had a wonderful opportunity to personally interact with the hierarch and participate in a discussion. During this meeting, people had the chance to ask the bishop various questions related to the calendar change, the Patriarchate, contemporary challenges in the upbringing of the younger generation, and the future of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church in Australia.

This pastoral visit by Bishop Mykola Bychok left unforgettable impressions in the hearts of the faithful in Adelaide. He brought hope, love, and spiritual support to all, reminding them of the importance of faith and their collective service to the Lord.
