“Spilne Sviachene” in Ardeer parish
April 8, 2024
On Sunday, April 7, the parishioners of the Church of the Dormition of the Mother of God in Ardeer gathered for joint prayer and a solemn lunch, “Spilne Sviachene”, to celebrate the Resurrection of Christ together.
Already traditionally, during the Easter time, faithful parishes in Ardeer gather around the festive table to pay homage to the Risen Christ as one spiritual family. So this year, on Thomas Sunday, the parish community gathered together again.
The celebration began with the Divine Liturgy for Children and Youth, which traditionally takes place in Ardeer every first Sunday of the month. Reflecting on the Sunday Gospel, Father Ruslan Babii, administrator of the Dormition of the Mother of God parish, paid special attention to the topic of preaching Christ with his life. “Let us be careful not to be jealous of God’s love and grace. Let’s not have those fears, because the Lord comes and gives his peace. But with that peace, we must accept faith. To understand and accept who gives us this peace and whether we want him to give us even more, so that we have the power to change our lives and serve him.”
After the Divine Liturgy, Father Ruslan anointed all those present with consecrated oil and also distributed broken Artos. Therefore, everyone gathered in the parish hall to share the spilne sviachene like a large parish family.
An important part of the celebration was the traditional Ukrainian Easter games, Haivky, which were performed by the sisters of the Order of Saint Basil the Great.
