“Spilne sviachene” at St. Volodymyr’s Parish in Canberra
April 27, 2025
On Sunday, April 27, parishioners of St. Volodymyr’s Church in Canberra and St. Michael’s Church in Queanbeyan came together to share the joy of the Resurrection during the traditional “Spilne sviachene.”
The festive day began with a special moment: before the Divine Liturgy, the liturgical items—a chalice and spoon—were blessed, which were donated by the Stakhursky family for the needs of the parish. This gift became a symbol of the unity and sacrifice of our community.
During the Divine Liturgy, led by Fr. Vasyl Motrichenko, the parish administrator, the faithful prayed together and listened to the inspirational word of the homily. The priest emphasised the importance of living faith and trust in the Lord in the daily life of every Christian.
Following the prayer, everyone in attendance gathered in the parish hall, where they were invited to a festive lunch. The joint meal was a great opportunity for spiritual fellowship, deepening friendships, and sharing holiday joy. The special atmosphere of the feast was complemented by the Easter lottery. Each participant had the opportunity to receive a symbolic gift as a memento of this day of common prayer and brotherly unity.
We sincerely thank all the parishioners and benefactors who contributed to the organisation of this festive day and everyone who shared the joy of the Easter meeting.
