At the end of December, Bishop Mykola Bychok, Eparch of Melbourne, joined the annual summer camp (tabir) of the Ukrainian Youth Association in Buxton, Victoria.

“If God is first, everything will be in its right place,” Bishop Mykola in Buxton

From December 28 to 31, Bishop Mykola took an active part in the camp organized by the CYM Melbourne. While staying at the CYM Oselya “Karpaty” in Buxton, Bishop had the opportunity to meet and talk with children and their parents. In particular, on the evening of December 30, Bishop Mykola, together with Fr. Iurii Tychenok, Principle Chaplain for CYM in Australia, held a meeting with the older participants of the CYM camp. During it, young people and their parents were able, in an informal atmosphere, to get answers from the clergy to the most pressing questions about the Church and religion.

On Sunday, December 31, Bishop Mykola celebrated the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy in the chapel located on the territory of the Oselya Karpaty. The joint prayer was attended by members of various age groups of the CYM, as well as parents of the youth.

In his homily, Bishop Mykola emphasised how important it is today to remember the foundations of the Ukrainian Youth Association and its main slogan, “God and Ukraine.” “We must remember that these are our roots; this is our foundation. To remember God, because it is the same God who created heaven and earth; the same God who came in the person of Jesus Christ to save the whole world; the same God who loves each of us and also wants us to be faithful to him as he is faithful to each of us,” stressed Bishop Mykola.

Finally, Bishop Mykola encouraged everyone present to always put God first: “Very often we are tempted to put God in another place. However, it is very important to remember that if God is first, everything will be in its right place.”
