“Happy Holidays with God” in Ardeer
October 2, 2024
On Tuesday, October 1, the parish of the Dormition of the Mother of God in Ardeer hosted a one-day event for children, “Happy Holidays with God,” organised by the Sisters of St. Basil the Great from Melbourne.
“Happy Holidays with God” is a wonderful initiative that combines spiritual education and active recreation for children. Its goal is to show that the church is a place not only for prayer but also for joy, communication, and development. This event was held in Ardeer for the first time and was attended by 12 children of different ages.
The day began with a Divine Liturgy, and after a joint prayer, the children had the opportunity to listen to interesting catechetical lessons, watch a film, paint decorative sunflowers, and enjoy ice cream and sweets. Adult parishioners provided a delicious lunch and snacks for all participants.
Father Ruslan Babii, administrator of the parish in Ardeer, noted the importance of such events: “This is an opportunity for children to gather near the church and see that they can not only pray here but also have fun. That it is not boring, but really fun, and you can play and pray together with other children.”
